James Victore // Poster

A poster dedicated to the working style of James Victore. With Victore's hands-on approach to typography in mind, I experimented with hand lettering through the use of India ink and painting over tape. After much trial and error, I photographed my work and composed the poster digitally.

"First, learn everything. Then forget it. Then create it. Occasionally we wake up. I don’t mean as we do every morning, but we wake to the big picture. We take account of our lives & find them askew. Crooked. Not the one we originally planned for ourselves. A change is long overdue. A radical change in how we think about ourselves, our work & what amount of bullshit we will now accept into our lives. So we go looking for help. We look for an opinion on youtube, read a book about how to hustle harder or watch a film about a fool looking for happiness everywhere short of adopting a dog & experiencing real love. We attempt to yoga or meditate our way out, but all of these are dodges, ways to get briefly inspired, then get back to “life as usual.” Here’s the gig, don’t go looking for a savior. No one else is going to help/ save/ fix you. Even a good teacher or mentor cannot do the work for you. Accept the responsibility & the yoke of your own power. Admit your own worth & declare a personal Revolution. Don’t wait. Start your own damn revolution.” -James Victore
